Your Task for Assessment 1

The group presentation assessment is worth 40% of the overall module assessment, to be delivered towards the end of term 1 (see module schedule and the assessment section on Aula for details). Students will get themselves into groups of 4-6, the presentation should not exceed 20 minutes per group, and must follow the outline below:

  • Critically evaluate the purpose and importance of performance appraisals as part of successful performance management;
  • Critically discuss the role and responsibilities of line-management in the conduct of meaningful performance appraisals — also think about how to get their buy-in;
  • Select a performance appraisal procedure from any organisation and discuss its approach, utilising substantial theoretical underpinning.
